Dr. Heard is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and certified as a National Health
Service Psychologist and Approved Clinical Supervisor. Dr. Heard has extensive experience
providing therapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults
within inpatient, residential, outpatient, and school settings. She currently serves as the co-director.
Dr. Heard operates her private practice Purposeful Assessment, Consultation, and Training
Services (Purposeful ACTS, LLC) where she provides psychological assessment services, individual and organizational consultation and training, as well as clinical supervision to graduate trainees and mental health professionals. In addition to her clinical practice,
Dr. Heard has been an adjunct professor at Loyola University Maryland, University of Maryland College Park, and Lehigh University.. Dr. Heard obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College. She then completed graduate training at Howard University where she obtained her Masters in Counseling Psychology degree; and later received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University (APA Accredited Program).
Dr. Heard is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Maryland
Psychological Association (MPA). She was appointed to APA’s Advocacy Coordinating Committee (ACC) and has served on MPA’s Board of Directors. She also serves as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students who aspire to attain careers in the mental health field for the Black Mental Wellness mentoring program.
